Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss made the final cut for the National League Manager of the Year Award, MLB Network announced on Monday.
The Braves promoted Weiss from bench coach to manager after Brian Snitker retired following a 76-win season. That previous campaign marked the first time since 2017 that Atlanta missed the postseason.
Under Weiss, the team improved its record to 94 wins. The squad captured its first NL East title since 2023 and secured the No. 3 seed in the postseason.
Atlanta defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in two of three games at Truist Park during the National League Wild Card Series. The Braves were then eliminated by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a five-game National League Division Series.
Weiss competes against the Phillies’ Don Mattingly and the Brewers’ Pat Murphy for the honor. Murphy is seeking a third consecutive award. The winner will be announced on Nov. 10.
Chris Sale, a finalist for the NL Cy Young Award, will learn of his status on Nov. 11. The other NL finalists include Pete Crow-Armstrong, Shohei Ohtani, and Brice Turang for MVP.
