The Picayune City Council is scheduled to approve a partnership with Pearl River County on Tuesday, November 3, to fund paving work on E. Lakeshore Drive. The council will vote on a Memorandum of Understanding between the county Board of Supervisors and the city for this project. This agreement is the primary infrastructure item on the day's agenda.
The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. at 203 Goodyear Blvd. The agenda includes routine consent items, such as approving minutes from the October 20, 2026, meeting. Council members will also vote to accept a $1,000 donation from the Knights of Columbus for a police bulletproof vest. Additionally, the council will authorize a performance agreement for The Victory Belles to perform at the Veteran’s Monument Ceremony on November 28, 2026.
Several engineering projects require council authorization. The city plans to enter an agreement with Dungan Engineering for planning and design services for the 2026 City Paving Project. A separate agreement with the same firm covers surveying and design for a proposed sidewalk and pedestrian bridge on Jackson Landing Road. The mayor will be authorized to sign these documents if the council approves the requests.
The city engineer also seeks approval to apply for the FY 2027 MDOT Strategic Multi-Modal Investments Fund. This application targets the City of Picayune Municipal Airport for taxiway lighting and asphalt rehabilitation. If approved, the city will submit the application to the state program.
The timeline for these decisions is set for the evening session. The council will first handle recognition of the Veteran of the Year and the Employee of the Quarter. Mayor’s updates and the city manager report will follow. New business items, including the paving partnership and engineering contracts, will be debated and voted upon after the consent agenda. Citizen concerns are allotted a three-minute limit per speaker.
The meeting is open to the public. The city has noted that all meeting rooms are accessible to disabled citizens. Those requiring special assistance must notify the City Manager’s Office by phone number 798-9770 at least 24 hours in advance. The agenda was published by Harvey Miller on October 30, 2026.
