Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell told his supporters on Wednesday that he has regained full movement in his lower body. The update comes days after he suffered a severe neck injury during a game against the Minnesota Vikings. Campbell is continuing to work on mobility in his upper body. He said he remains optimistic about his recovery path.

The injury occurred when Campbell attempted a tackle on Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson. He went limp and fell face down on the field. Medical staff attended to him immediately before he was moved on a stretcher to the hospital. Teammates watched from the sideline as the play unfolded.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown discussed the moment on his podcast this week. He recalled the difficulty of returning to the game after seeing Campbell on the ground. St. Brown said the team had to focus on finishing the contest despite the emotional weight of the injury.

"It's like, damn, we just took care of him, put him on a stretcher, sent him out back to the hospital, and now we gotta go play again, so that kinda sucks, I feel like," St. Brown said. He acknowledged that injuries are part of the sport, but noted that such a specific incident changes how players view their time on the field.

St. Brown said his thoughts turned to Campbell's family during the game. He mentioned Campbell's wife and their newborn baby, who was born just months before the injury. "I just want him to be OK, to be able to play with his kid honestly and be normal," St. Brown said.

Campbell released a detailed statement on Wednesday thanking the public for their support. He described the outpouring of love and prayers as overwhelming. "My family and I want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and support we’ve received over the past few days," Campbell wrote.

The linebacker addressed his physical status directly in the statement. "I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body," he said. He added that he is taking the recovery process one day at a time while staying positive.

Campbell also addressed the Detroit community and his teammates. He described the Lions organization as a family and praised the city for its resilience. "One thing I’ve learned about Detroit is that this city is built on toughness, resilience, and grit," he wrote. He said he plans to apply that same mindset to his rehabilitation.

The team will continue to monitor Campbell's progress as he focuses on regaining upper-body function. St. Brown said the entire team is praying for Campbell's continued improvement. The next step in Campbell's recovery involves ongoing physical therapy to build strength and mobility in his arms and shoulders.
