The Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show will feature a 25-time Grammy Award winner in 2027. Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, was named as the headline performer for the event scheduled for Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The announcement came from the National Football League, Apple Music, and Roc Nation.

The performance will occur during the championship game, which is set to air on ESPN, ABC, and Disney+. Mobile streaming access will be provided through the NFL+ platform. This marks the first time Jay-Z has headlined a Super Bowl halftime performance, a milestone in his career that spans three decades.

Roc Nation has served as a production partner for the NFL since 2019. The entertainment company advises the league on live music programming and helps produce the halftime show. Jay-Z's role as a key figure in this partnership positions him to lead the event from both a musical and an operational perspective.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the selection in a statement. He noted that when the league first agreed with Roc Nation to produce the show, his only request was that Jay-Z perform on the stage when the moment felt right. Goodell expressed excitement for fans to witness the artist's cultural impact on the Super Bowl stage.

Jay-Z referenced the 30th anniversary of his 1996 debut album, 'Reasonable Doubt,' in his own statement. He described the journey from the album's release to the Super Bowl stage as a dream come true, citing 30 years of work and culture. The rapper has been active on the stage this year, celebrating the anniversaries of 'Reasonable Doubt' and his 2001 album, 'The Blueprint.'

The artist recently concluded his 'JAÅŸ-Z30' concert run with performances at SoFi Stadium. The tour included stops at Yankee Stadium in New York and various locations in Europe. Guest appearances on recent concerts featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, John Legend, and DJ Khaled.

The NFL has not yet announced additional performers for the 2027 halftime show. However, the choice of Jay-Z places a major hip-hop figure at the center of the league's primary annual entertainment event. Speculation regarding potential guest appearances is expected to follow, particularly given the rapper's extensive musical collaborations and his wife Beyoncé's history with the Super Bowl stage.
