American Airlines activated four new boarding positions in the Terminal A pier at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on Oct. 21. The airline opened gates A10, A11, A13, and A15 to the public that week. Six additional gates in the same structure are scheduled to go live within the coming weeks.

The new addition covers 140,000 square feet of terminal space. This follows a similar expansion at Terminal C, which added nine gates in June. American officials stated that Terminal A will become the carrier's busiest facility at the airport. Peak days will see more than 200 departures from this specific terminal.

The pier includes updated seating with power outlets at every seat. It also features electronic boarding gates and a wider selection of dining and shopping venues. Construction began in 2024 and utilized a modular method. Workers built sections of the structure on the airport campus before transporting them to the final location.

Jim Moses, American's senior vice president of DFW Hub Operations, called the opening a milestone for North Texas. He said the investment aims to strengthen the airline's network and enhance the travel experience. Moses noted that the expansion creates more opportunities to connect customers to global destinations through the hub.

The same modular construction technique is currently being used for Terminal F. That project will serve as American Airlines' flagship terminal when it is completed next year. The new facility will include 31 gates. It will also house The Provisions by Admirals Club, which is one of the airline's lounges.

Kenneth Buchanan, DFW Airport's executive vice president and chief revenue officer, said the expansion helps the airport handle its volume. He noted that DFW serves tens of millions of travelers annually. Buchanan stated that the new pier strengthens the airport's ability to provide a guest-centered experience. He added that the project offers local businesses and partners a chance to create a distinct sense of place for arriving and departing passengers.
