Oklahoma City will close major downtown roads this Sunday for a free Halloween celebration.

The Bricktown Association and the Downtown OKC Partnership are hosting Brick-or-Treat for the 12th year. The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on October 25. Activities center near Mickey Mantle Plaza in the Bricktown entertainment district. Organizers expect heavy foot traffic throughout the neighborhood.

More than 45 storefronts will participate in the candy distribution. Families can collect printed maps at these locations to plan their routes. Children in costume ages 14 and younger can collect treats. Any child accompanied by a guardian is also eligible for candy. The event is free to enter. No tickets are required. Participants should bring printed maps or check locations for event details.

Costumed characters will walk the streets during the afternoon. Spider-Man, Bluey, and the Ghostbusters are scheduled to appear. DJ Reaper will provide live music. The Groovemeant Community will perform interactive shows for younger audiences. Several photo backdrops will be set up across the district for families to take pictures. Staff will manage pedestrian flow at key intersections.

Traffic disruptions are expected on Sheridan and Reno avenues. Organizers will close portions of these streets to create more space for pedestrians. Drivers in the surrounding blocks should anticipate detours. Curb access may be limited for the afternoon. Parking might be difficult near the event hubs. Public safety officials will be on site to direct traffic and assist families.

Crowds will likely gather around the ballpark area. This section of the district typically draws larger groups. Arriving early can help families avoid the densest clusters. The open format allows visitors to move freely between stops. Adults must accompany children who exceed the age limit for unaccompanied trick-or-treating. The event provides a structured alternative to traditional neighborhood routes.

This gathering serves as a major community draw for downtown residents. It combines live entertainment with candy collection. The program extends beyond simple trick-or-treating with staged performances and music. Parents often plan their weekend activities around this specific event. The closure of major thoroughfares impacts local travel patterns for three hours.
